Turning the English Classroom into a Museum 1.

This term our Plurilingual Project, which is also related to the Library Project, is focused on some American painters. We will be learning about each artist´s techniques and remaking our own paintings utilizing these styles.
In the English classroom we will focus on Art within the English language and Art lessons to learn and apply how to use different mediums.
The following presentation constructed by Kimberly is a sneak peak to our upcoming project; transforming RÍA DE VIGO and the English classroom into a Museum.
Stay tuned, as we continue to update you about our progress in experimenting different techniques with well known artists in preparation for our Museum Transformation!

Piet Mondrian by Grade 3 students.

Today we learned about Piet Mondrian through a presentation of his background life and the technique of his later paintings. The children then created six to twelve boxes which were painted with black and primary colors. With primary colors, horizontal, and vertical lines the children created their own aesthetically pleasing Mondrian painting.

Georgia O´ Keefe´s Evening Star no. V 1917 by Grade 2 Students.

Evening Star no. V 1917 Georgia O'keefe

Another artist that we have been looking and studying is Georgia O'Keefe. Although she is well known for her oil paintings, we have chosen to look at her watercolor paintings. The children practised drawing with pencil and how to control the watercolor with the use of water. Georgia uses very similar colors that help the children expand their knowledge in color as well as learn about mixing.
