We have just began a new task, which
is related to Autumn tree nuts. We have discovered that there is a link between
cultures that was introduced during Caleb´s presentation. Apparently, in Ohio
they celebrate the chestnut just like we do here in Spain. For Caleb it is
called “the Buckeye”, for us it is called the “castaña” or chestnut, that is
eating in Fall and specially during the “Magosto Festival”. However, in Ohio,
the buckeye is a poisonous chestnut, that cannot be eaten.
The chocolate buckeye was made to look
like a chestnut, but it isn´t made with the chestnut. Therefore, the chocolate
buckeye doesn´t taste like one.
In the following weeks, we will be
creating these tasty treats with our 3rd. and 4th. grade
students. In the meantime, here are some links to how to make them.
