The Children of Lir
An Ancient Irish Legend
Once Upon a Time in Ireland...
Lir was a great lord with four beautiful children: Fionnuala, Aodh, Fiachra, and Conn. Their mother died, and Lir married a woman named Aoife. Aoife was jealous of Lir's love for his children.
One day, she took them to Lake Derravaragh and used a magic wand to turn them into four white swans. They were cursed to spend 900 years on the cold waters of Ireland until the sound of a Christian bell was heard.
